Posted May 28/14 - DOUBLE BINGOS BOOST CARDS TO WIN OVER HUMBOLDT

NUTANA, SK - A seven-run explosion in the fifth propelled the Saskatoon Cardinals to a 10-4 win over the visiting Humboldt Dodgers.  The Cardinals, who led the game from start to finish, scored in the fifth on an RBI single by Riley James Vinding.  Dallen Erickson then spanked his first round tripper of the year bashing in 3 ribeyes for the Cards.  The Cardinals were not finished as an RBI single by Nolan Machibroda was followed up by a two-run bingo by Shawn Lewis.  At the end of the day, Lewis racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Cardinals.

Lewis started on the mound, giving up one run over 2 and 2/3 innings before passing the ball over to Bryce Libke.  Libke, who entered the game with the bases loaded, put together a nice outing on the mound holding Dodgers hitless over 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing no earned runs, walking one and striking out three.  Ethan Meyer closed out the game giving up three runs over 2 and 2/3 innings.

Cardinals Coach Greg Krawchuk was happy with the win.  "Hopefully, we can use this win as a springboard," said Krawchuk.  "I keep saying, 'this is the one', and hopefully tonight it is the one to get us going".

The Cards who now have an overall record of 6-6 will find out if it is the one as they travel to Nutana #1 to face the high flying Jays at 6:00 pm tonight.
