KAMLOOPS, BC: The Saskatoon Bantam Cardinals fell 14 to 8 to a very strong Okotoks Black Team to finish tied for 3rd in the BOW tournament.  Although the Cards racked up 16 hits they could only muster 8 runs.  The Cardinals were able to hang with Okotoks for most of the game and were tied with them 4-4 at the end of the fourth.  However, the game fell apart for the Cards in the fifth following a six run outburst by Okotoks.

Three runs in the top of the sixth helped the Cardinals close their deficit to 11-8, but Okotoks stormed back with three runs of their own in their half of the inning.  Coach Greg Krawchuk was pleased with the Cardinals performance.  "Obviously, I wanted to get a better result out of it, but it's just the way the game goes. Take it in stride, learn from it and get better.  We have only had one outdoor practice this year.  I am pretty sure Okotoks has had a bunch of them.  We will get better and there is no doubt that we can compete with them.”  Krawchuk and the Cardinals may get their chance as the Cardinals are scheduled to compete in Okotoks in July.
