Posted Feb 17/10 - Chiefs Start the Baseball Season with a Bang
Chiefs start the season with a great win over Aynor in an 8 inning scrimmage game Wednesday night. It was a cold night and the field was sloppy but the baseball was great. The Chiefs couldn't have scripted a better start. Leadoff hitter Dedrick Searcy started the game with a single, then Bill Seddinger drove a double over the head of the right fielder's head. Billy Ferguson then crushed a fastball over the left center field wall for a 3 run home run. Jason Ritter then stepped to the plate and deliver a curve ball over the left field fence for another home run. Stephen Butler then roped a single. Stephen Butler started the game on the mound and pitched 3 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts. Billy Ferguson took the mound in the 4th to give up only 1 run in 3 innings of work, striking out 8 Aynor hitters. Lukas Ray came out from behind the plate to pitch the final 2 innings striking out 5 hitters. Searcy, Ritter, and Lawrence Long each finished with 2 hits.
