Posted Aug 1/10 - TPLS At Nationals:

(more coming... look for a big article on ESPN and the Rivals.com website)

Our TPLS teams showed the nation how good Basketball is played in Virginia by attending the AAU National Championships in Rochester, MN and Orlando, FL.

First our 15U team, which finished first in the State of Virginia.  At AAU Nationals we finished 5th in Division 1.  Along the way we beat the state runner up TN Hustle and the Mid Atlantic/Penn State Champs Comets in pool play.  We also scored the most points in one game, 90.  In pool play, we then beat the highly touted Stars, featuring a top recruit of LSU.   We also defeated the number one seeded team in the nation, Indiana Elite, and the Aracidia team that had only lost 2 games all year.  Our only loss was to the Wis Select team, that ended up second in the nation.  Along the way every girl contributed to our success and our team play was amazing.

Our 13U team decided to play up as a 14U team and go to DII Nationals in Orlando.  Adding a few players who were 14, we only lost one game the entire tourney.   That being against the Ark State Champs.  Again all girls played and contributed to the 3rd place finish.  Along the way we defeated our rival Boo Williams Norfolk Express and a superb Fencor Gold team that was 33-3 going into our game.

Our 12U ventured to Rochester Minn to compete in DI nationals.  Here the girls did so well.  They went 2-1 in pool play losing only to last years number 3 team by 10.  In their first game out of pool they lost a heartbreaker by 1 point vs a top ten in the nation Missouri Valley State Championship team.   The quality of team play had the entire tourney a buzz as they showed what team basketball was all about.

Our 16U team finished 5th in the nation in DII.   They went 3-0 in pool play.  In each game they were tested early but put the jets on and won all pool games by 13 points.  Outside of pool play they went 2-1.  In their game to place 5th they jumped out early but then had weather a serious come back by the tough FL Waverunner to secure their 5th place victory.  The team showed great heart and ability to overcome much adversity to finish in fifth place.
