The 2010 season for the Thunder is looking very bright. And captain Joey Kelly agrees. After struggling alittle last year in 09 they may benefit. They get the 2nd round in the first ever 2010 players draft.

Joey Kelly was signed with the team to replace slugger Zack Slavitsky in 2009 and had a remarkable season. Being the youngest player to hit 30+ homeruns he made a statement to the league that he will be no push over. He also improved greatly on the mound in 09 finishing near the top of all the pitching categories. Kelly said that he is not really focused on the longball this year. He just wants to win ball games and pitch well. But come on, we are sure he wants to get to 100 homeruns. He only needs 19.

During the offseason Alex Lavdas was traded to the Lookouts (now the Swamp Dragons) for rookie Guiseppe Ferrera. Ferrera had a strong year both on the mound and at the plate. He led the Lookouts to the playoffs after the team in 08 went 1-29. He was 3rd in the league with hits (77) and had 14 homeruns, 39 rbi's and a .546 avg. He dazzeled players with his amazing speed. This year he will be in field and is a front runner for the Gold Glove this year. Kelly stated, "Zepp will fhelp out alot. He will make more plays, something that i missed last year" Something that might of cost them a playoff spot last year. He is the missing piece to the Thunder team and he said that he is very excited to start.

Lets not forget the player to be drafted. They get the 2nd pick this year and there will be plenty of good players to go around early. Right now before they pick their player the Thunder look tough. They look like they will compete with the Mudcats, Shorebirds, and Threshers. Joey Kelly said "This year i hope that we can win alot of game and push far into the playoffs" This Thunder team looks absolutley solid. This team put together for 2010 is looking to be the best team for the Thunder since the Zack Attack in 07, 08.
