Led by a solid pitching performance from Sid Lehman, the Jr. 69ers started off the season with a win at Hartford. Cameron Woik started the scoring, by driving in Jay Ziegenben from third base in the top of the second inning. In bottm of the second, Hartford countered by scoring two runs. In the top of the 3rd the bats came alive for Mayville and they put up 3 runs to take the lead. Mayville would not look back from that point, scoring a total of thirteen runs. Tony Giese came in to pitch the final 2 innings allowing no runs, one hit and recording 5 strikeouts. Tyler Luehring had a solid defensive day throwing out two runners from behind the plate. Corbin Schroeder went 2 - 4 with a triple and (4) RBI and Sid Lehman went 3-5 with a triple and (2) SB. The 69ers have their home opener Wednesday (6-8) and host Jackson, game time 7:00pm. |
