| Posted Mar 25/12 - Beavers Lose Heartbreaker to Elma |
| The Beavers battled to the end, but ran out of opportunities in a 4-3 loss to Elma on Saturday. The Beavs got a quality pitching outing as Trevor Huddleston started the game and went the opening three innings, giving up two runs, one earned, getting the tough luck loss. Cy Whitmire and Colton Lucas combined to pitch the final three innings, giving up two runs, one earned, and striking out three. The trio kept up the trend of Beaver pitchers throwing strikes, as they combined to walk just two hitters.
Offensively, the Beavers were led by Whitmire- the only Beaver with multiple hits- who went 2 for 4 with a double, and a run scored. Troy Wasson and Dustin Schimelpfenig both reached base three times, Lucas scored two runs, and Dylan Wenger and Huddleston each added a hit and an RBI. Single hits were also added by Hunter and Tanner Huddleston.
With the loss, the Beavers fall to 1-2 on the season, while Elma improved to 2-2. The Beavers will next take the field against league foe Washougal for a key double header on Thursday.
