The SHS baseball team is looking to upgrade the backstop at the baseball field, and is offering the opportunity for you to show your pride in the program. Each person that participates in the “Buy-A-Brick” program gets their message on a brick in the new backstop that will be unveiled this season. Your contribution will help us continue to “build” the Warrior Baseball tradition by upgrading our facilities. Each brick you would like to sponsor will cost $100. Grant Alford was named the new head baseball coach for Senatobia High School at the June school board meeting. Alford has been with SHS since 2004 and has been an assistant with the baseball team since then. Alford is also the assistant athletic director for SHS. Alford is a 1998 graduate of SHS. While at SHS he was a member of the baseball team, hall of fame, and the Star Student. After graduating from SHS, Alford attended Mississippi State University where he received a bachelor's degree in education with an emphasis on sports communication.

The SHS Baseball Program would like to welcome Coach Adam Sowell. Coach Sowell will join the baseball coaching staff this month. Before coming to SHS, Sowell spent the past three seasons at Lewisburg High School. Sowell received a B.A. in Social Science Education from the University of Mississippi before entering the teaching profession. Prior to his time in Oxford, Coach Sowell attended Northwest Mississippi Community College and Northeast Mississippi Community College where he was a member of each school's baseball squads. Sowell is a Tate County native, and graduated in 2001 from Independence High School.

The Warriors improved their record to 5-0 with a Homecoming victory of 33-0 over district opponent Byhalia. The game was very physical but the Warriors were in control from the start.

Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau Scout Art Gardner of Walnut Grove, Mississippi, was on hand for the opening day of the Mississippi Select Baseball Fall League. Myrtle High School's Jimel Judon, a nationally-ranked 2010 graduating player, has drawn interest, but Mr. Gardner was also able to see other top area players such as Senatobia's Jeremy Carlisle, Lafayette's Denzel Goolsby and many others in action Saturday.

Senior Jordan Billingsley and Freshman Jacob Billingsley were both selected to participate in the 2009 Dulin's Baseball Invitational Fall Program. Jordan is a member of the Dulin's White 18U team and Jacob plays for Dulin's White 16U team.

At the meeting held on 9/10, Booster Club Officers were elected for the 2009-2010 school year. President is Becky Wilkie, Vice President is Don Woolfolk, Secretary/Treasurer is Jere Herrington, and Secretary/Treasurer Elect is Janna Powell. Jennifer Bennett was chosen as Chairman of the Fundraising Committee. Emily Denton and Suzanne Coke will be in charge of Concessions.

Coach Alford has created a Twitter account to provide updates on Warrior baseball. The website will continue to be the main source of information but for those who may not have immediate access to a computer, you can receive Twitter updates on your mobile phone.

Jeremy Carlisle (Senatobia), Gabe Richey (Baldwyn) and Will Robertson (Falkner) are among the first players to join the Missisisippi Select Baseball Fall League. League games will be played at Legion Field in New Albany from September 12 until November 1.
