Notes:
The Bluejays open the season with a couple new faces as they try to move on without 3 solid players, Becker, Wilkens and Dave "Donny BB" Donahue who all (for now) are retired. The Bluejays welcome back Dean Schwirtz for his 3rd tour of duty with the Bluejays. The bats were on fire early and often. Eric doubled in Johnson to get things going in the 1st. Plato opens it up a bit in the 4th with a 4 run inn on 2 walks and a couple hits. Then in the 8th added 3 more as Lang gets a RBI single, and a 2-run double by Boomer. The Bluejays finished with a strong 9th as they added 5 more, with a walk, double by Eric, double by Deano, and a 2 run homer by Boomer to cap off the game. On the Hill Cody got the start and scattered 12 hits over 6 inns for the win. Tony went 2 perfect inns, and Smothers pitched the 9th but was hurt by his defense and gave up a unearned run, but struck out 3. At the plate, Eric was 2-2 (2 doubles) and 4 walks, scored 4 runs. Boomer was 3-5 2B, HR ,4 RBI's. Smothers and Ditty added 3 singles a piece. |
