Notes:
The hype lived up to its billing, this was a great region battle!! D/C got a clutch 2 out hit in the 1st to score a run, and thats the only hit that Tony gave up the rest of the game. He recorded 19 st8 saints hitters. Bluejays down 0-1 entering the bottom of the 6th. Stones led off with a walk, then the Saints were very worried about him at 1st stealin, and a wild pick off attempt and he was on 3rd, and scored on a FC, by EE. With the score tied in the bottom 8, Boomer leads off with a walk, advances to 2nd, D-Hue singles, Smothers RBI single and a D/C error gave the Bluejays a 3 run 8th. Up 4-1, 9th inn, Ode took over for Tony and got the 1st 2 out. Then the wheels fell off, a couple walks and an error later, Smothers came in, after a walk and a hard smash up the middle this game was tied at 4 a piece. D/C still had guys all over the bases with 2 out and JB made the web gem of the year at SS, catchin a over the shoulder pop up to save the game and its 4-4. Tony re-enters in the 10th and gets a 1,2,3 inn. Then JB hits a grounder to 3rd and the throw is high as he dives under, Ode gets HBP, and EE try's to sac bunt but pops it down the line that cant be fielded and everyone is safe. So its 4-4 bottom 10th 0 out and Tyler Lang rips the 1st pitch down the left field line for the Bluejays 5-4 walk off win!! Side notes , the Bluejays are 3-0 vs new rival D/C Saints this year and now play Delano on Friday night for a state tourney berth. Plato is 0-2 vs the Tigers this year and have been beaten badley by Delano both times. Offensive leaders today for Plato were D-Hue 2-3 and a walk, also Boomer 1-2 and 2 walks. Also hats off to the Hutch grounds crew as they had 8 inches of rain and the field looked great and was in good playing conditions. |
