Jones led the team to an 85-81 win over Colum bus\, avenging a loss earlier in the season against one of the league’s be st teams\, on Saturday and 78-54 over Toronto on Sunday.\n\nJones\, a Flin t Northwestern and Ohio State grad\, is leading the team in scoring and re bounding.\n\n“Larecha is truly the MVP of our league\,” said Flames coach Dreyon Wynn. “She’s a guaranteed 20 points and 10 rebounds every night.”\n \nBecause the team didn’t get much practice time with the full compliment of players before the season started\, it took a few games for the players to get adjusted to each other and build chemistry. While Jones has become the focal point of the offense\, she’s also helped some of the younger pl ayers on the team\, particularly the team’s dynamic group of guards\, whic h includes Jasmine McCall\, Angel Chan and Nan Moore.\n\n“She’s (Jones) tr aining our guards on how to play off of her\, and it’s been really success ful\,” Wynn said. “Our backcourt is young but maturing.”\n\nWhile the impr ovement of the team’s season-opening roster has been key\, the Flames have also tweaked the lineup and found new players as the season’s went on. Tw o recent additions — Ohio State grad Tamara Riley and Michigan State grad Lauren Aitch — have helped solidify the team’s frontcourt.\n\n“Our chemist ry has improved a lot\,” Wynn said.\n\nAfter the homestand\, the team has a bye next weekend before an important road trip to Ohio that will feature a rematch with Columbus\, as well as a road game against Cleveland\, who beat the Flames in Flint earlier this season.
