Coaching Staff

 

Rick Davis

Coach Davis is a native of Chilton County and played at the University of Montevallo where he earned Academic-All American honors as a catcher in 1989. After spending four years as head coach at Huffman and one year at Fairhope, Coach Davis came to Hoover in the fall of 1994. his teams have won a total of five area championships, six county championships, one state championship and made playoffs 16 of his 20 seasons. He has received "Coach of the Year" honors from Birmingham City (1990), Jefferson Co. Coaches Association (1993 & 2001), Birmingham News (2001) and Birmingham News Metro South Coach of the Year (2005). Coach Davis and his wife Cheryl have three boys, Trey, Nicholas and Colby.

Jeff Haley

Coach Haley has been a part of the Buccaneer program as a player and coach. After graduating from 'W.A. Berry in 1984, Coach Haley played two years at the University of Montevallo. With 12 years as the Buccaneer JV coach, Coach Haley has been an integral part of developing young players. Coach Haley and his wife Nedrea have two boys, Carson and Major.

Jason Barton

Coach Barton bagins his fifth year at Hoover after coaching at Bryant High School in 2004. Coach Barton played college ball at Jefferson 'State (where he set 2 records for stolen bases) and University of Alabama-Huntsville. After college, Coach Barton was a player/manager in a professional league in Europe, spending two years in Germany. Afterwards, he returned to coach at Central High and Bryant High in Tuscaloosa. Coach Barton and his wife, Trina, have one sone, Atticus.

Andy Urban

Coach Urban attended Southside High School in Gadsden. He was the captain of the University of South Alabmna Baseball Team. He began his coaching career in 1996. From 2002-2007 he was 9th grade baseball coach and a varsity baseball coach at Vestavia Hills and West Cahaba Heights. He and his wife, Christa, have one son, Brayden.

Ryan Halla

Coach Halla is a 1992 graduage of Vestavia Hills where he won two state championships in baseball. Halla then played at Auburn University where he earned All-American honors and was a 1994 participant in the College World Series. He played 6 1/2 years of professtional baseball with the Pittsburg Pirates and Atlanta Braves organizations. Halla was head baseball coach at John Carroll High School from 2003-2005. In 2005, Halla became the pitching coach at Western Kentucky University. The and his wife, Julie, have two children, son Jackson and daughter Tate.

Craigger Brown

Coach Brown played for Vestavia from 1983-1986 and then played for the University of Montevallo. He was a four year conference starter for the Falcons.

Mac Hardy

Coach Hardy began coaching in 1984 at Berry High School. Coach Hardy and his wife, Kristen, have three children: Brock, Cam and Claire.

Bret Price

This is Coach Price's first year as Assistant Coach to the freshmen team. He attended Scott High School and played at the University of Charleston. He and his wife, Kara, have two sons, Shane and Cory.
