Force Falls to Strikers in Opening Weekend
Posted May 11, 2016
The Iowa Force Women’s Basketball team played in their first game on Saturday in Omaha against the Nebraska Strikers. Not only was this the first game of the season, but the first game in the history of the Iowa Force.
Due to the newness of the team, the Force brought just a roster of six. Those six players were Charmaine Bell, Rebecca Kramer, Tia Mays, Alyse Messa, Alison Nagel and PeeWee Porter. Bell lead the scoring with 30 points.
While the Force only trailed by five after the first quarter, they fell behind 50-36 at halftime. After the slow start, the Force came out strong in the 2nd half, winning the half 50-47. At a point the Force faced a 21 point deficit, but fought back to bring it within 11. In the end, the 2nd half push wasn’t enough and the Force fell 97-86.
