Doug MacDermid Inducted in to RMMBA Hall of Fame

This past Saturday, during their official Opening Day ceremonies, the Ridge Meadows Minor Baseball Association inducted long-time Midget Royals' coach Doug MacDermid in to the RMMBA Hall of Fame.
Doug, better known as Howie, has spent the better part of two decades as a coach in the RMMBA. He coached both of his sons, Keagan and Dylan, all the way up from T-Ball through their Midget years. After Dylan graduated in 2011, it seemed as though Doug's coaching career may have come to an end. However, when asked to return to the team in 2014 when it was resurrected after a two-year hiatus, he jumped at the chance. The 2017 season will mark Howie's 9th with the Midget AAA/College Prep program. He has been a part of three Provincial Championships with the team (2005, 2009, and 2015) as well as two Western Canada Championships (2005 & 2009). These are in addition to many other titles won at the lower levels.
Doug has always brought an unassuming role to the team as he never looks to take credit for anything the team does. He brings a passion for the program and for the game itself (and for occasionally arguing with the umpires). Howie's dedication, positive attitude, and ability to connect with people have made him a tremendous asset to the RMMBA and he is a very deserving recipient of this honour.
