Black Eagles Split Exhibition Double Header with Delta Tigers
Posted May 23, 2015
The Black Eagles were back on the lower mainland for the weekend, this time at Cromie Field in the suburbs of Ladner. The boys were playing their first game of an exhibition double header against Delta since the Richmond Tournament, but this time the Eagles took the opener 7-4 behind the strong pitching of Hayden Wilcox and Luke Seginowich. Between the two, they struck out 12 (six apiece) Delta batters only allowing four hits and three walks. The Eagles broke a 3-3 deadlock in the sixth inning on a double to right field by Trey Sjerven bringing in two runs and a sac fly by Jared Anderson adding an insurance marker.
In the second game, Delta played their brand of small ball, outlasting the Eagles 13-11. In a peculiar game, the Eagles were ahead 11-8 in the sixth when Delta broke free with a rare inside-the-park three run home run. Between the two, the teams combined for 22 strikeouts, 24 hits, and 10 errors - - not a pretty game, but an exhibition game.
