Final 50 innings= On a Halloween themed Saturday at Serauxmen Stadium the VIBI Mariners completed their annual 100 inning fundraiser baseball game. The boys got all dressed up in their Halloween costumes and completed the remaining 50 innings. There were some excellent costumes and a variety of different looks. Pictures of the day’s events will be posted shortly on the website. On the baseball side of things, the pitchers bounced back with a close 28-27 win. The hitters still won the overall game 56-44 but it was all about the fun on this Saturday.

The VIBI Mariners would like to thank all the sponsors for this year’s event  and the Mariners themselves have completed their Fall Baseball season and will go indoors starting on Wednesday at the Centennial Building in Beban Park.

Oct 28/11-  VIBI starts 100 Inning Game

1st 50 innings= On a cold Thursday afternoon in Nanaimo, the VIBI Mariners completed the 1st50 innings of their annual 100 inning game. The teams were split, Pitchers vs. Hitters and began play. After a good 50 innings the hitters took a solid lead of 29-16 going into the weekends final 50 innings, which are to be played Saturday.

Oct 24/11- VIBI World Series ends in Sweep

Game 1= Jordan Romine's walk-off single in the bottom of the 8th propels Team White to a 2-1 win in Game 1 of the World Series. Both starting pitchers Reiley Grose (Team White) and Connor Russell (Team Blue) threw terrific games, with both bullpens holding down the fort until the late heroics. Team Blue had a chance to secure this game after taking the lead into the 5th but late mistakes cost them led to the win by Team White.

Game 2= Team White took all the momentum of their win in Game 1 into Game 2 and put Team Blue on the brink of elimination with a convincing 5-1 win. The win was led by Luke Hawkins throwing a strong 5 and 2/3 innings on only 64 pitches silencing Team Blue's bats right from the beginning. With the victory Team White had a chance to end the series on a beautiful day in Nanaimo.

Game 3= With their backs against the wall and all the momentum on Team White's side, Team Blue gave it their all, but came up short as Team White sweeps the 2011 VIBI World Series with a 4-2 extra inning win. With the score tied 2-2 going into the 8th inning Team White loaded the bases and scored the winning run on a passed ball. Team White added another run in the inning for extra insurance and that was enough as they shutdown Team Blue in the bottom half to secure the series win.
