Posted Sep 5/09 - Wildcats Top Blue Earth, 2-1
The Wildcats topped the Blue Earth Pirates Saturday afternoon in Arlington, by a score of 2-1.

The Wildcats were led by draftee pitcher, Mike Mueller, who threw another complete game "gem." Mikey went 11 innings, striking out 7 during this period. The only run for Blue Earth was unearned, which brought Mikey up to 20 innings pitched without allowing an earned run! Way to go, Mikey!

Other than Mikey's pitching, there really wasn't much else to talk about. Our bats went silent today (only got 6 total hits). This was one of these games where we feel very fortunate to have won. At the same time, we could have as easily blown it wide open and won by 10. That's why we love the game of baseball; you just never know.

The Game Awards....

The "I Throw Baseballs Into The Field of Play From The Dugout For No Reason Award" goes to "Benny Machs." During the top of the 3rd, Benny decided to throw a game ball at the umpire, which caused the umpire to call "time" so someone could go field Benny's errant throw. Benny's reason for throwing the ball: "He waved at me."

The "Clearing the Mechanism Award" goes to Mikey Mueller. For those that have no idea what I'm talking about, watch the movie, "For The Love Of The Game." I'm convinced this is who/what Mikey is saying to himself when he's out on the mound.

"Obnoxious Drunk Guy Award" goes to this guy...Hands down...Click Here For Dude
For those who saw and heard this dude, I'm sure you'd agree. In all the years I've been involved with sports, I've never heard anything quite like this guy. I mean, I was at Wrigley Field this year when Milton Bradley threw the 2-out fly ball he caught into the RF stands. Cubs fans went crazy, but not as crazy as this guy sitting behind home plate today. I give him credit, he was persistent with his yelling and beer drinking.

Alright...Gotta go...Signing off...Big game tomorrow vs. Hanska....Let's keep this train rollin'.
