With an opportunity to get back to the .500 mark for the first time since a difficult 1-5 start to the season, the Thunder wasted no time, scoring 2 times in the first and never looking back. Excellent pitching, defense, and timely hitting were the key as the Thunder beat Boss Blue 9-4. Joey Pettit was again outstanding on the mound pitching 3 innings of shut out ball. The highlight was a pitcher to third to first double play to get out of a tight spot in the third. Ayden Spykstra, Gavin Hinckley, and Sam Lemler pitched the final 4 innings of relief, allowing 4 runs, only 1 of them earned.
Offensivley, the Thunder again got contributions throughout the lineup. Noah Doedens and Kevin Lemens reached base a combined 5 times and scored 4 runs to lead the Thunder charge. The Thunder again ran wild on the bases swiping 13 more bases on the night. Pettit, Doedens, Lemler, Christian Ketter, and Lukas Broske all had hits and the Thunder also walked 7 times in the victory. The Thunder has now pulled to an even 6-6 on the season and 5-3 in league play. The Thunder hope to keep things rolling along in Waukesha this weekend where they will take place in the USSSA Waukesha Walk Off Tournament.
