Posted Dec 2/13 - Riels Solid Game Grounds Jets

FIRST PERIOD

Jets opened the scoring at 10:02 when Adam Blight beat Riels net minder Ryan Brown with assists coming from Versavel and Bruchanski.  Riels replied over a minute later at 11:14 when Arthur Raevskiy scored his 4th of the season with assists coming from Jens Giesbrecht and new line mate Stanislav Izvekov.  It’s nice to see Izvekov back with the team.  He will definitely help out the scoring punch for the Riels.  Welcome back Stan.

Then the Riels made it 2 -1 when league-leading defensemen Sean Christensen scored his 6th of the season with help coming from Skylar Eastman and Chris Prejet at 12:27.  The Jets tied it up late in the 1st at 18:30 when Johnson scored with an assist coming from Wallace.  That’s how the period ended 2 -2 tie.  Riels outshot the Jets 17-15.

SECOND PERIOD
Riels opened the scoring at 4:46 of the second when Brian Michiels finished off a nice 3-way passing play from captain Michael Gorrie and Sean Christensen.  Then at 6:14, Mark Sharman scored his second of the season from Skyler Eastman.  At 8:21 of the period, Michael Gorrie scored a beauty that beat Jets net minder Luke Sirant with an assist coming from Glen Young.  The Riels played solid in the second frame not giving the Jets too many scoring chances.  Net minder for the Riels Ryan Brown kept the slate clear after the second.  Riels lead the game 5-2 after two.  Shots were even 12-12.

THIRD PERIOD

Riels came out flying early in the third when Russell Trudeau netted his 22nd of the season with assists coming from Brett Charette and Mark Sharman at the 23-second mark.  Then at 5:31, league scoring leader, Brett Charette got his 14th of the season and 46th point in 2 – 1 games with assists coming from Mark Sharman and Russell Trudeau.  That made it 7 – 2.  The Jets got one back at 10:43 on a shot from Tyson Furgala that beat the Riels goalie Ryan Brown high on the glove side.  Riels won 7-3 and outshot the Jets in the third period 16-6.  Overall 45 – 33.  Riels improved their record to 19 wins 1 lost and 1 OT loss.
