| Jul 30/09 - Orioles drop first game of the playoffs to St. Benedict |
The Orioles lose 7-5 to the St. Benedict Saints due to errors and walks along with clutch hitting from the Saints. Dan Shetka and Chad Skluzacek had multiple hits for the Orioles and both reached safely in the first when Dust Steinhoff drove them in. Chad Skluzacek drove Dan Meger in on single in the second, to make it 3 to 0. St. Benedict came back to take the lead 4-3 in the bottom of the inning. They would pick a few more to make it 7-3 but the Orioles battled back never giving up before finally losing 7-5. Ross Skluzacek came in relief for Meger and shut down the Saints pitching 3 1/3 and striking out 5 while allowing 0 runs.  |
