As many coaches at any level can tell you either of these lacking within a team can cause problems and a long and not so fun season.

The lack of discipline and focus will wreck a team or even a coaching staff it will show itself by staff undermining the head coach and once that happens it will spread within the team frustration will follow for both players and parents while the kid will love just being a part of something outside themselves parents won't be so easily won over.

Lets travel down the road of a discipline and focused team start by incorporating competition in certain drills make it so that individual and group drills become something you can motivate each group or player to try their best by doing so the team will respond and work to reach the common goal.

If practice is related to some fun moments they will respond and want to come to practice which will also cover team discipline sure you may have one player still outside the group at times but over time they will conform discipline and focus are related understanding this can lead you down the path of leading your team to a good experience if not season either way the player gains a lesson.
