Posted Nov 1/13 - Parents behaving badly

Two local youth organizations imploded before the leagues playoffs, the problem one say's the other had a player that may have been a year to old.

These were with teams under age 10 reports state that one parent decided to get face to face with the player in question and ask him how old he was of course this was wrong and only added to the problem as also during the game the team who had the question had a coach who decided to shove the game official which caused the game to be suspended.

Wait it doesn't stop there as the now fully out of control parents took it to yes you have some idea already the parking lot where more pusing and shoving took place and police had to be called lucky for those knuckle heads no arrest were made and no charges were filed.

Just for argument sakes let's say this player was one year older off the birthday mark if he were in the correct grade then youth football shouldn't have been a problem. But because of in flexable rules which are kind of out of line the player in question should be allowed to play if again this is all about the kids the motto of so many youth programs.

I experienced a player in question on a opposing team wait there was no pushing or yelling or any of the other things that took place in the event mentioned above , the team I coached had defeated this team in a division game by 40 points we ran through the division undefeated but had to face this team in the first round of the playoff's .

Guess what they defeated us and our parents didn't take it so well it involved lawyer's the very last people you want involved after a few days cooler head's on the matter came to the decision to allow our season of wonderful bliss to end , the real problem was our team had not had much success from the time this staff of coaches were formed with this group of players from age 7.

I joined the staff for the teams final game one year earlier which they had won only 3 games and that had been the amount they won each season since age 7  this one game I was involved in before our run ,we only lost 6-0 opposed to the blowout's that had taken place all season.

I was asked to coach the defense the next season and just that change took us through the season defeating teams that they had never had the confidence to think about beating we defeated them by hugh margins and shutout's so after a season like this I understood how the parent's got to that point but that player in question didn't impact the game and the adjustment's they made for the playoff game was our down fall at the half the score was 6-0 our offense never got on track and only crossed the fifty yardline once.

These type of season's in youth football are seen by parent's as a one time event but the reaility is it's the first of what many of those players will see again this is just the first experience with what it takes to make a season special a lot of team work and a few breaks your way.
