McGill-Toolen Basketball

Dear Parents,

First of all I would like to thank all of you who have supported the team through your efforts so far.  We had a tremendous success with our spaghetti dinner and are very thankful for all of you who have helped us numerous times with football parking.   As we have entered season and come to our deadline for our program ads I have found it disappointing that we have not had more participation in our overall fundraising efforts.  It has come to my attention that there might be some confusion as to what you need to raise, how you need to raise it and why.  We offer many opportunities to raise funds; spaghetti dinner tickets sells, grocery bagging, pecan pie sale, program ad sales, tournament sponsorships etc.  We must raise funds in order to pay for our overall operating costs; which include officials, security, book keepers, clock management, equipment, shoes, clothes, mail, film equipment, technology upgrades, coaching supplements, coaching clinics, pre-game meals, transportation, tournament fees etc.  I am not sure if it is a misunderstanding of what we need or just lack of getting the job done.  Please understand that raising $700.00 per athlete is extremely important to what we do and what we need to do.  It is a required amount that must either be raised by a combination of activities listed above or donated by each family.  We stress that ads be sold because you earn money toward your $700.00 for every ad you sell.  Plus there is an additional benefit of having a quality program with a variety of ads showing the support for our basketball program.  The last two seasons have produced the two largest basketball programs in the history of the sport and it’s easy to see the benefits of having done this.  I just want to encourage everyone to do their part to make this basketball program the best it can be.  We are all in this for the kids and the future of this program.  Let’s band together and get this done!!! 

In regards to communication, I do apologize if information has not been as forthcoming as you would like, but you must know that with one basketball coach on campus and three teams to get info to, it can be a challenge, that’s why I suggest that everyone check our website http://www.mcthoops.com/, we do the absolute best we can to update it with new information when needed.  If you ever need any forms, log onto the website, go to handouts, click the appropriate form and print.  If there are any problems with the website please send us an email and we will correct it as soon as possible. 

Please understand that this is not a letter intended to lecture but a letter of reminding us all that we must do our part every season to ensure our success.  The financial stability of the program is something we must constantly work at and together it can be easily done.  Thank you all for having you son’s involved with us and I certainly look forward to working with you and your families over the years.
