Posted Apr 11/10 - Sidewinders Looking Good Early

When the Sidewinders went 1 and 29 last season no one thought they would get 1 win in the opener. Jake Dickerson made some moves during the offseason that could change they look of the franchise within one year.

Jeff Kish who was signed undrafted joined the team 1 week before the opener. Kish quickly became known smashing 3 big homeruns in his first game. Zach Gould who won the Cy Young in 2007 and a member of the 100 homerun club held down the Thunder on the mound and blasted a deep drive to left. The Sidewinders won the first game 10 to 0 mercy ruling the Thunder.

In the second game they went to extras with the Threshers Jeff Kish was on the mound this time and showed off some good stuff. He also smashed another homerun but that wasnt enough to win but they held in there with a very good Threshers Team.

Against the Shorebirds they struggled early but bounced back. After 3 homeruns in the 1st inning the Shorebirds led 5 to 0. They struck back scoring 2 runs in the 2nd. In the Third inning Jeff Kish powered another homerun making it his 5th of the season. Although they lost big they showed some heart and determination to make a run for some post season play.

If they can stay on track as they did in their first 2 games they are very capable to win 15 or 20 games. And now with a great pitcher like Gould and hitter like Kish this team looks to be the real deal. Also Jake Dickerson has the potential to win the comeback player of the year.
