Posted Apr 25/12 - Beavers Battle Back For Split

After a disappointing 10-0 loss in game one of a double header with Castle Rock, the Beavers battled back to take a 10-1 lead in game two before holding on to win 10-7.  With the split, the Beavers improved to  5-8 overall on the season, which passed their previous year’s win total with seven games still remaining on their schedule.

Trevor Huddleston took the tough luck loss in game one as he battled through six Beaver defensive miscues to allow just two earned runs in four innings.  Offensively, Colton Lucas, Cy Whitmire, Dustin Schimelpfenig, and Tanner Huddleston all had one hit; Huddleston’s being the only double.   The five inning mercy rule defeat was the Beavers first one of the season.

In game two, the Beavers jumped out early with three runs in the first, four runs in the second, and one run in the third to take a commanding early lead.  In all, eight Beavers recorded hits, with Tanner Huddleston once again leading the offense with three.  Bryce McQuivey and Cy Whitmire both doubled, with Whitmire adding a pair of RBIs. The support was all starting pitcher Colton Lucas would need as he cruised through four innings, allowing just one run.  Troy Wasson was also strong in relief, pitching two innings and giving up just one hit.
