7 Blue

The 7th Grade Blue Bulldogs handed the Marquette Hilltoppers their first loss of the season.  In the second quarter Michael Barnes led the Bulldogs on a 13-play, 66 yard Touchdown Drive.  Barnes found Bennett Gilsinger for an 8-yard Touchdown grab.  The story of the day though was Defense.   The entire team used Hard Hits, Hustle, and Heart to keep Marquette from scoring.  Alex Schultz and Ben Kinowski led the defensive attack combining for 14 tackles, while Andrew Poenitsch, Kyle Purfuerst, Patrick Jene, and David Koepke anchored the defensive line.  Chris Lutzen made a touchdown saving solo tackle late in the game to clinch a Bulldogs victory 6-0.

8 White

On Saturday, September 26th 2009, the Bulldogs captured their first road victory of the season in a defensive battle against Waukesha West.  The final score was 6-0 and the victory brings the team’s season record to 3-1.  Offensively, Drew Patterson led the rushing attack with 21 carries and 90 yards.  Additional contributions came from Senymanola Samsanuke who had two receptions and the games only touchdown from Dan Lunowa.  Defensively, Drew Patterson and Andy Dauer helped keep Waukesha out of the endzone with 7.5 and 3.5 tackles, respectively.  Critical defensive turnovers came from Alec McShane (interception) while Shane Powell and Josh Ebert each recovered a fumble.

 8 Blue

Brady Ellingson’s touchdown pass to Ryan Warzon with under a minute left proved to be enough as the Templeton Bulldogs Blue defeated the Marquette Jr. Hilltoppers, 12-6. The victory improves their record to 4-0. It was a 30 yard by Nick Creech that sparked the offense in the third quarter.  The drive was concluded by a John Phillips 6 yard touchdown run.  Phillips led the Bulldog ground attack with 48 yards. The Bulldogs did it through the air as well.  Brady Ellingson had a solid effort completing 2 of 7 passing, for 125 yards with Warzon receiving both passes.

On the defensive side the Bulldogs held off a strong Hilltopper offense.  Ellingson’s interception in the closing seconds sealed the fate of Marquette.  Once again John Phillips led the way with 8 tackles.  Strong contributions were noted from the defensive linemen, Brian Dennis, Sabastian Giovannini, and Nick Pupp.  Ellingson finished with two interceptions and Chris Woodall chipped in with an interception of his own.
