Pete Robillard: A+

Pete’s long awaited breakout year finally arrived at the age of 30 (thanks at least in part to a swing change).  Pete led the team in regular season AVG and his .645 overall AVG was almost 200 points above his career mark.  His 53 RBIs were also a career high and his 6 HRs were more than his last five seasons combined.  Though Pete’s production fell off a bit in the playoffs, he drove the Coors’ offense in the Gm 1 (4 RBIs) and Gm 4 (7 RBIs) victories; Coors may not have won their 3^rd championship without him.  Played solid defense throughout the year.  Well done.

Perkins: A+

Perkins’ offensive production was up from a year ago (though his OBP and AVG were down) but it was his pitching that was the story.  He finished the season with an overall 14-3 mark on the hill and was virtually unhittable in the playoffs (going 4-1).  His Gm 4 performance (4-4, 2 HRs, 7RBI, and the win) was clutch, and along with Pete Robillard, slugged Coors to their 3^rd banner.

Umbrianna: A

Back as a regular for the 1^st time since ’05, Umbie was also a key piece to Coors’ 3^rd title.  Though his offensive numbers were impressive (team leading reg season .723 OBP and 2^nd in AVG .683), it was his consistent infield defense all season that arguably helped Coors the most (especially with the loss of Brian Brown).  Umbie also gets a bump thanks to his strong post game performances.

Voci: A

The 40 year old used his veteran eye and took full advantage of the strike mat in its inaugural year; posting a remarkable 25 base on balls (more than his last 7 combined seasons).  This helped drive his OBP to an incredible .703; well above his career mark.  The captain also stepped up his game during the playoffs; besting the .700 mark in both OBP and AVG.  His 6-7 mark (1 SV) was a bit distorted by the tough competition he faced (0-4 against A’s), but consistently hitting the strike mat was an issue during the season.  Compiled a championship team and seemingly made all the right moves during the season/playoffs.

Nichols: A

Led the team in most offensive categories among regulars and a set career high in OBP (.716).  24-33 in the playoffs (.727 AVG) and his “inside the park HR” in the deciding Gm 4 of the Finals kick started the Coors offense.  Solid LF defense after his banishment from the infield.

Buff Robillard: A

A consistent contributor throughout Coors’ championship run.  Buff set career highs in both OBP (.711) and AVG (.654) and bested both those marks in the playoffs (.750 OBP and .700 AVG, while going 14-20).  Buff’s RC defense was solid throughout the season.  

Smokey: A-

Another beneficiary of the strike mat (thanks to his eagle eye), Smokey set a career high in OBP (.664 vs. a career of under .500) and walks (25, tied for 1^st).  When pitchers did come after him, he swung the bat well too; setting a career mark in AVG too (.568).  Smokey’s June streak of 18 straight plate appearances reaching base was memorable and helped to bolster his overall figures.  And though Smokey’s numbers dropped off during the playoffs, his two out 2 run 2B in Gm 1 of the Finals was a big one and helped Coors win the opener.  Played solid defense when called upon to come out from behind the dish.

Ostiguy: A-

In his first full season since 2008, Ostiguy posted a career high in OBP (.633) and his AVG (.548) easily bettered his career mark.  The veteran stepped up his game in playoffs, going 9-13 with three walks in the Finals and had a huge 3 run 3B in Gm 2.  Ostiguy’s strong LC defense all season was a major reason why Coors was able to secure a 3^rd title.  Another strong post game performer.    

Antonetti: A-

Production was similar to prior year, as Antonetti played in only 2/3rds of the team’s games.   Despite that, Antonetti still led the team in HRs (9).  Antonetti stepped it up during the playoffs, including an impressive 7 for 7 in games attended (and a perfect 4-4 with 4RBIs in the Gm 4 clincher).  Once again, played solid infield defense throughout 2011.

Powers: A-

Much improved in his sophomore season, as numbers were up across the board; most notably his RBIs (36 from 16) and base on balls (18 from 1).  Though there’s no evidence to support it, Powers always seemed to come through with either a walk or a mini pop up single over the third baseman’s head when a pressure situation arose.  Defense was not a strong suit for Powers, but his post game performances certainly were. 

Matt Robillard: B-

Ichiro rebounded from a disastrous 2010 campaign, but was hampered by injuries throughout the season; which held down his numbers.  Though he tried, was unable to contribute during the playoffs.  Posted good OBP and AVG, but overall production by the lead off hitter was below what’s come to be expected.  Good clubhouse presence and undoubtedly Coors' most sharply dressed and best smelling player (which helped offset the foul odors which continually emitted from the team's dugout during the season).

McCarthy: D+

Surprisingly, the one Coors’ player to regress from last year; as McCarthy’s numbers fell off in almost every area.  McCarthy particularly struggled during the playoffs, as he attempted to play through a rib injury.  Played okay defense when asked to come out from behind the plate.
