In a repeat of the opener, Coors Light relied on solid pitching and excellent defense to defeat the Hive 15-6 Wednesday Night in game two of the BMSL B Finals. Coors Light broke open a tight 9-6 game with another big late inning; this time a six run 7th, highlighted by a Buff Robillard HR and a “nail in the coffin”, bases clearing 3B by Ryan Ostiguy.
Once again, Coors left a number of runners stranded and could have put the game out of reach earlier with another one or two big hits, but it produced enough to take home another game. It was a true team effort, as everyone in the line up contributed in some way to the offense.
Joe Nichols 3-4, 2 2B, 2 RBI
Steve Perkins 2-4
Buff Robillard 2-3, BB, HR(#8), RBI
Scott Umbrianna 2-2, BB, SF, 2B, 2 RBI
Jim Antonetti 2-4, 3B, 2 RBI
Pete Robillard 1-4
Brian Brown 3-4, 2 RBI
Ichiro Robillard 1-2
John Powers 1-2
Ryan Ostiguy 3-4, 3B, 4 RBI
Bobby McCarthy 1-2
Joe Voci 1-1, BB, RBI
Smokey Wiener 1-3, SF, RBI
Perkins was dominating once again on the bump and improved to 13-2 on the year (3-0 in post season play), as he kept the Hive batters off balance all night. Perkins also made a number of tough plays, as he continued to field his position like a gold glover.
Coors Light can capture their 3rd BMSL B championship with a win (and clean sweep) over the Hive Thursday Night @7pm.
