| Using 4 pitchers the Waconia Lakers out dueled the Carver Black Sox 4-2 opening their 2012 schedule. After 4 scoreless innings the Lakers jumped out for all 4 runs in the 5th when Ronnie Olson legged out an infield single that amazingly scored 2 runners, Peter Brown drove in Olson and Chris Bullis later that same inning . Olson and Justin Klingelhutz led the Lakers each going 2 for 3. There was little doubt that pitching this time of the year was way ahead of hitting. New Laker Cole Hytjan started and threw the first 3 shutout innings, followed by Ben Smothers for 3, Peter Brown for 1, and Olson closed the game tossing the final 2. Smothers was credited with the win with Olson getting the save. Next up the Lakers take on the Chanhassen Red Birds, Saturday Night, May 5th, 7pm in their beautiful new stadium at their high school followed by a Sunday 2pm home opener for the Lakers as they face the Cologne Hollanders. The Lakers play at Lion's Field across from Waconia High School. |
