The Lakers defeated the Pipestone A's 6-2 friday night in the first round of the Class C State Amateur Baseball Tournament. This is Waconia's first trip to the tournament since 1931, the only other appearance by Waconia.

The Lakers froced the A's into many mistakes and rode the arm of draftee Tony Wischnack for the full nine innings. Wischnack was picked up from the Plato Blue Jays after the Lakers secured the #1 pick of the regional draft with their 10-9 win over the Winsted Wildcats last Sunday. Tony gives the Lakers a great deal of experience having played in 16 previous State Tournaments including Plato's 2007 State Championship.
