After losing to the A's on Wednesday and to the Jays on Thursday, the Saskatoon Bantam AAA Cardinals knew they had to step it up when they opened the Saskatoon Bantam AAA Wood Bat Tournament on Friday. Although they did not win the Cards had a solid game against the A's losing by a 5 to 4 score. On Saturday, the Cards beat the Moose Jaw Mallards in the morning and the Lloydminster Twins in the afternoon to finish second in their pool. On Sunday, the red birds defeated the Jays to advance to the A Final against the Regina Little League Allstars. Ryan Olchoway started on the mound pitching 5 and 2/3 innings before handing the ball to the Turner Rea who picked up the save.
The Cardinals would like to thank the Cardinal parents for cheering loudly all weekend, score keeping and keeping the diamonds in great shape.
The Cardinals are idle until Tuesday night when they take on the Saskatoon A's in their first game of the City Championships.
