The Cardinals came out strong in Humboldt on Saturday afternoon, beating the Dodgers 18-2.    The Red Birds got off to a big start scoring 4 runs in the top of the first.  It looked like the Dodgers were going to make a game of it, when they answered back with two runs (1 earned) off Cardinal starter Nolan Machibroda. However, the Cardinal pitchers (Ethan Myer, Justin Walters, Tyler Stadnichuk, Graham Forester, Bryden Gore, and Reid Britnell) combined to shut down the Dodgers for the remainder of the game.  Offensively, the Cardinals were led by Garrett Krawchuk who went 4 for 5.  Bryden Gore was 3 for 5 with 5 RBIs while Reid Britnell was 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs.  Justin Walter, Tyler Stadnichuk and Ryan Crilly were all 2 for 4 while Nolan Machibroda was 1 for 4 with an RBI.

Cardinals assistant Coach Greg Krawchuk was impressed by the win.  “We played a great game.  We pitched seven guys and they all did very well.  We also had a good day with the sticks.  Our goal is to get better every game, and we certainly showed we were a better team than our last game”.

The Cardinals next game is on Tuesday when they play host to the Muenster Red Sox.
