Posted Apr 24/22 - 2022 AGM Report

The 2022 SESBL AGM took place at Chicken Chef in Langenburg at 4:00 PM on Sunday April 24. In attendance was league President Tyrel Thorpe of Langenburg, Greg Andreychuk of the Canora Supers, Greg Clark and Mark Griffits of the Roblin Stars. The Yorkton Marlins and Parkland Pirates were not in attendance.

The league will consist of the Langenburg Legends, Canora Supers, Yorkton Marlins, Parkland Pirates, and the Roblin Stars. Each team will play 3 games vs the other teams for a 12 game schedule .

The top four teams will qualify for the playoffs, with the last place team eliminated. Round 1 of playoffs is set to start on Monday July 4 and to conclude no later than Tuesday July 12. This will be a best of three series with the #1 seed vs the #4 seed, and the #2 seed vs #3. The teams ranked higher will get the extra home game if necessary. The Finals will be a best of five series starting approximately July 13 with the higher seed getting home field advantage. If for some reason the start of playoffs needs to be delayed,  they will start at a date to be determined. Teams are required to schedule rainout games as quickly as possible so the playoffs can start promptly.

Tyrel Thorpe will serve as President for the 2022 season. Greg Andreychuk will be the Vice President and webmaster, and take over as President for the 2023-2024 seasons. A representative from the Roblin Stars will take over as Vice President in 2023-24.

The Willowbrook Royals, Back Forty Brewers, Parkland Padres, and Yorkton Orioles have all lost their Charter Member status, and are no longer part of the league. We would like to thank those teams for their years of dedication. The Grandview Lakers will be on a one year leave of absence.

The league constitution was in serious need of revising, so plenty of discussion took place. Most notably stronger punishment will be in place for teams forfeiting games. Any team who forfeits 1 game loses their $100 bond, has to replace it before their next game, and will lose the right to host their first playoff game. If a team forfeits 2 games than they once again will have to replace their $100 bond and will play their first two scheduled home playoff games on the road. 3 forfeits means an automatic end to the season, and a loss of the teams charter member status.  The updated  constitution will be posted on the constitution tab on the website shortly.

We look forward to getting back on the diamonds as soon as this annoying snow melts. Hopefully Mother Nature cooperates with us
