WACO, Texas -- Behind one of their top defensive performances of the season, the Pflugerville varsity jumped out to a 24-11 halftime lead en route to a 50-26 win over Waco Midway Tuesday evening at Midway.

The win pushes Pflugerville to 6-2 on the season. The 26 points tied for the second-lowest amount allowed by the Panthers this season. State power Midway, 31-6 a year ago, is 3-5 to date this season. The Panthers held Killeen Shoemaker to 22 points on November 12 in a 63-22 win, which was the least points allowed to date.

In the low scoring contest, the Panthers were led by sophomore point guard Taliyah Brooks' nine points, while senior post Nneka Enemkpali finished with eight points, seven rebounds and a team-high four blocks. Other top performances were turned in by junior forward Itiana Taylor (seven points, six boards, two blocks) and junior guard Ari Booth (seven points).

Pflugerville now breaks for the Thanksgiving holiday and returns to action next Tuesday, Nov. 30 when it opens District play against Cedar Park HS in a 7 p.m. contest at Cedar Park.
