AUSTIN, Texas - Behind three double-figure scorers and a defense which forced 27 turnovers, the nationally-ranked Pflugerville Panthers posted a 77-30 victory over District 16-5A opponent McNeil High Tuesday night at McNeil.

Senior forward Diana Omozee notched 16 points and had six rebounds for P'ville, which improved to 31-0 and to 10-0 in the District. Omozee was joined in double-figure scoring by senior guard Bre Payne (12 points) and senior post Jonelle Smith (12 points). Payne and senior guard Taylor Ross (six points) each pulled down game-highs of seven rebounds.

The Panthers overpowered the Mavericks in rebounding as they held a 48-14 edge on the boards. McNeil is now 12-18 overall and 2-9 in district play.

Ross also finished with a game-best seven assists while Payne had seven steals, also a game high and a season-high for her.

The Panthers jumped out to a 30-10 lead after the first quarter, powered by 50 percent shooting from the floor (11-of-22) and a 10 for 13 effort from the free throw line. The Panthers forced McNeil into seven turnovers in the period as the Mavs connected on six of 15 field goal attempts. Pflugerville opened up a 56-14 lead at halftime after a 26-4 scoring run in the second period. Smith and Payne led the way in the first half with nine points each.

The Pflugerville JV picked up another District victory to move to 9-1 in district play with a 44-26 win over McNeil. Freshman post Alexis Bryant netted a game-high 22 points which also is her season-high for points in a game. Freshman guard Mykiel Burleson added eight points.

The Panthers' freshman A (Gold) team defeated its McNeil opponent, 54-46, behind a game-high 29 points from guard Deliah Mooney.

Pflugerville returns to action on Friday night, Feb. 1 playing its final regular season game of the year on "Pflugerville Senior Night" against district cross-town opponent Hendrickson High School. The varsity game tips at 7 p.m. the JV and freshman A (Gold) teams play at 5:30 p.m. and the freshman B (Blue) team plays at 7 p.m. The Panther seniors in the program will be honored in varsity pre-game ceremonies with their families.

The game also will be Pflugerville's annual cancer awareness night. The game is tabbed as the "PISD: Together we can DOMINATE Night" as both Pflugerville schools invite fans, parents and friends to attend the game and donate to the "Play for Kay" initiative to raise funds for cancer.
