Posted Feb 1/12 - Feb. 3 Pflugerville-Georgetown game is battle for District championship and event-filled on PHS Senior Night; contest will be televised and livestreamed
TOP 5A TEAMS MEET AGAIN ON PHS "SENIOR NIGHT": The Friday, Feb. 3 District 16-5A game between No. 2 state-ranked and undefeated Pflugerville and seventh-ranked Georgetown is a highly-anticipated game and rematch of the top two teams in the District. The game tips at 7:30 p.m. from Pflugerville's Panther Gym where it will be "Pflugerville Senior Night" as the Panther program honors its seniors playing their final regular season home game and senior team managers. Pflugerville, ranked No. 2 in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) / TexPreps Basketball Magazine 5A poll and No. 14 nationally in the USA Today Super 25 weekly rankings, stands 35-0 overall and sits atop the District standings at 10-0. Georgetown is 24-3 and 9-1 in the District. The game is a rematch of the Jan. 10 road game won by Pflugerville, 65-48. A PHS win will give the Panthers the 2012 District title and would be the Panthers' sixth district championship in the last eight seasons.

GAME ON TV, LIVESTREAMED: The contest will be televised live in Central Texas on local broadcast station KVBO-TV MyAustin TV and also will be livestreamed via the web at KXAN.com . KVBO is available on digital channel 14 and/or 51. To find the KVBO channel on your cable provider, click HERE .

DONATIONS ACCEPTED FOR SOUPER BOWL OF CARING FOOD DRIVE: All fans are asked to bring donations of canned foods and non-perishable items to the game as it is the culmination of Pflugerviile Basketball's annual "SOUPER BOWL of CARING" food drive. The drive will benefit the Storehouse Food Mission Pantry located in Pflugerville. Don't forget to clean out your pantry and kitchen shelves before coming to the game and donate to this very worthy cause.

Souper Bowl of Caring is a national event that uses the energy around our nation’s biggest sporting event to mobilize and inspire youth to fight hunger and poverty.  Over the last several weeks, the Panther players have put their leadership skills into action, speaking to their classes about hunger in our community, encouraging their classmates to help fight hunger by bringing in canned food donations. Players took food donation boxes to each of their classrooms, made announcements on PTV, and then collected all donated items. We have had great success with this project over the last three years and it provides our players the opportunity to make a positive impact on a huge issue plaguing our community.

PYBA NIGHT: The game also is "Pflugerville Youth Basketball Night," with all PYBA players wearing their team t-shirts admitted free to the game.

NOTE ABOUT GAME PARKING: In anticipation of a large crowd, fans are encouraged to arrive early for the 7:30 p.m. contest. In addition to the basketball game on campus, there is another function (a 6 p.m. chili cookoff competition at the adjoining PHS cafeteria which is open to the public) and parking will be at a premium near the Panther Gym.
