Posted Nov 29/11 - Pflugerville ups record to 11-0 with 93-45 win over Cedar Park; Panthers play in Bowie HS Tournament next

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas-- Behind five in double-figure scoring and a 32-7 run in the third period, the state-ranked Pflugerville Panthers rolled to a 93-45 victory over Cedar Park Tuesday evening on Parents Night at the Panther Gym. Pflugerville moves to 11-0 on the year while Cedar Park is now 5-7.

Senior forward Itiana Taylor led the way with a game-high 20 points and also pulled down a game-best 10 rebounds. Junior guard Taylor Ross added a season-high 17 points, while junior forward Diana Omozee chipped in with 12 points and also notched a double-double, grabbing 10 rebounds. Taylor and Ross each had six steals with Taylor added three blocks.

Senior guard Ari Booth and junior guard Brenisha Payne rounded out the double-figure scorers with 11 points each. Senior guard Jasmyn Booker (nine points) led the way with five assists.

After holding a 41-29 edge at intermission, the Panthers exploded for their highest scoring quarter of the season, netting 32 points in the third quarter while holding the Timberwolves to seven points for a 73-36 lead. Nine different players scored for Pflugerville in the period. The Panthers had six steals and forced Cedar Park into eight turnovers in that quarter.

For the game, the Panthers held a 21-4 advantage in steals.

Pflugerville returns to action Thursday-Saturday, Dec. 1-3, at the Bowie Tournament, hosted by Austin's Bowie High. The Panthers are in pool play with San Marcos, Leander and McCallum on Thursday and Friday. (Please check back for the tourney pairings.)

PANTHER JV, FRESHMEN ALSO POST VICTORIES; HOST THE PFLUGERVILLE JV/FRESHMEN TOURNEY THIS WEEK

The Pflugerville junior varsity and freshmen Gold (A) teams continued their winning ways Tuesday and remained undefeated. The 8-0 junior varsity gained a 64-47 win over Cedar Park behind sophomore Tiara Pitts (14 points) and junior Tatyana Dawson-King (10 points).

The freshmen Gold, also 8-0, edged Cedar Park 45-41 as guard Alyssa Washington had 22 points, 11 rebounds and six steals in the win.

Both Panther teams along with the freshman Blue (B) squad will participate in the annual Pflugerville JV/Freshmen Tournament which runs Thursday-Saturday, Dec. 1-3 at PHS. Pool play begins on Thursday morning. Please check back later for the tourney pairings and schedule.
