Your Cloverdale Spurs had mixed results on the first day of the Provincials on Thursday. The 12 pm game saw the Spurs defeat the Ladner Red Sox 11-2. Kyle and Jeff shared pitching duty and were fantastic. Supported once again by an awesome Spurs defense. Reese and Jeff had the hot bats as they each went 4 for 4.
In the second game of the day, the Spurs started slow. Quiet bats from the Spurs resulted in White Rock building a 3-0 lead after 3 innings. In the top of the 4th, the Spurs decided to wake up. Jeff got it started, followed by a Noah single, a Bryce bunt to score Jeff (Bryce was safe at first) and then Connor with a nice hit that scored Noah and Bryce. (Unfortunately, Connor was thrown out at second) But the Spurs weren't done. Kristjan hit a nice single and then Trevor scored Kristjan. After 4 innings, the Spurs led 4-3. However, White Rock came back to score 2 runs in the 6th inning with some effective bunting. The Spurs were unable to score during their last at bats. Final score, White Rock 5, Spurs 4.
Next up, a must win game against Vancouver on Friday at 3 pm.
Go Spurs.
