The MC Flames 12U girls traveled to Pulaski this weekend to play in the Pulaski Shootout Tournament. On Saturday in pool play the Flames faced the NRV Sparks in their 1st game on saturday. In a strong physical game the Sparks won   38-23. The Flames were lead by Madison Shumaker with 8 pts. Later in the day the Flames took on the Roanoke Roar- Orange. The Flames picked up after a close 1st half and won 38-26 in their first win of the tournament season. With strong defense and a more team play atmosphere they were lead by Madison Shumaker again with 11 points and 8 points from Meghan Epperly. With that win they ended up with number 1 seed for the elimination round on Sunday.

 On Sunday they started off with a rematch against the Sparks, which were earlier winners against the Roar - Orange. The Flames come out with a more intense defense and better team work to finish with a 32-29 victory. Meghan Epperly paced the Flames with 10 points, Jessie Howard added 9 and Madison added 7 points. The turning point of this game was the defensive play by Amanda Whitlow and Kelley Davis to take the Sparks top scorer out of the picture giving up only 7 points to her. The Flames then took on the Roar - Blue in the Championship game where the Roar prevailed 29-23. The flames were lead by Epperly with 8 points 4 rebounds and 2 blocks. My congraulations to the Roar that showed the sportsmanship of wishing our team goodluck before the game and playing a truly clean well played game

The Flames will travel to Wytheville on the 30th of January for a jamboree held by the Wytheville Wizards.
