The Rockets traveled to Cornersville on Saturday to face a non-district foe, Cornersville Bulldogs. After a slow start, (9 to 6 Rockets after the first quarter) the Rockets pulled away with 17-0 run in the 2nd quarter.
The final score was 53-27 Rockets as all players for Forrest saw action in the game. Mark Pope led scorers with 11 and Chase Hensley added 9 points on three 3-pointers. This win brought the Forrest Rockets season record to 6-4.
On Monday, the Rockets played host to Middle Tennessee Christian School out of Murfreesboro. After Marshall Hunter connected on a half court shot just before the halftime buzzer, the Rockets enjoyed a 39-29 halftime lead.
This lead extended to 14 in the 3rd quarter before MTCS came roaring back. 17 turnovers and shooting 9 of 25 from the free throw line, doomed the Rockets as MTCS scored two free throws in the last minute to win 68-66.
Mark Pope led the Rockets with 22 as Marshall Hunter scored 14.
The Rockets continue in district 9A action on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at Cascade.
