Posted Jun 26/11 - Rockets Rest
The dead period begins this week and the Rockets look forward to having some time to rest injuries.  Due to injury, other sport obligations, and several other prearranged absences, the Forrest Hoops squad sent only 12 players total to field both a JV and Varsity squad at the Wayne County Wildcat basketball camp.  While 5 players played only varsity and four players played only JV, there were three players that were asked to play both!  The increased playing time is likely to help these players in the future, but the dead period will surely be a prime time to recharge batteries.

For everyone in the Forrest Basketball family, the dead period will be a great time to prepare mentally for the push to the start of the season.  July will consist of weights and some conditioning, and players will be encouraged to work on their game during their own time.  Coach Hobbs was able to see a great improvement from the start of summer to the team's experience at Wayne County.  He also noted the priceless time that the team spent together and is beginning to see a great chemistry between players.  In a district that is very competitive, team chemistry and trust can be the difference in close games.

Please check back often for updates on the Forrest Rockets basketball team.
