Posted Jul 31/12 - Angels win in PoCo, finish season at 36-6

The Abbotsford Angels played their final regular season game in Port Coquitlam against the Tri-City Indians on Monday night.  In a game where the outcome would have no impact on final standings, Abbotsford used the opportunity to tune up for the provincials this coming weekend.

Keaton pitched well for 5 innings and kept Tri-City's batters guessing for the most part.  Unfortunately, the Angels bats were equally as quiet in the beginning.  Heading into the bottom of the seventh and trailing 5-4, Abbotsford decided to focus on getting the win.  With runners on first and second and only one out, Austen (who had also come in to close) decided to take matters into his own hands.  A rocket hit to left field that hit the top of the fence earned Aussie a walk -off double that scored the game winning run.  Once again the Angels were successful in coming from behind to beat Tri-City.   Not an ideal situation but one that proves again that if these players focus on the goal, they have what it takes to win.

With the season ended, there's no rest as the Angels will use the next few days to get ready for Thursday's double-header against Cloverdale Red and Richmond.  Game times are 10 am and 4pm at Blundell Park in Richmond.

Go Angels!
