Your Abbotsford Angels continued their winning ways on Saturday, July 14.
In the first game of a double-header, the Angels faced the Kamloops Riverdogs. Abbotsford took control right from the start with Chase doing a great job on the mound. There were very few hits to contend with but the Angels dealt with them effectively. The game was highlighted by a right-centre field home run by Sheldon. But all the Angels bats were working again. Sheldon came in to relieve Chase and continued the shut out. Final score Angels 11, Kamloops 0.
In the second game, the Angels faced a worthy foe in the Nanaimo Pirates. The Pirates were one of the few teams to beat the Angels this season so they came in with some confidence. After building a 3-0 lead early in the game, timely hitting by the Pirates in finding the gaps resulted in a 4-3 lead for the Pirates. The Angels hitters were patient as timely hitting and a few pass balls allowed the Angels to regain and stretch their lead. Austen and Jonah combined for a good pitching outing. Final score Angels 9, Nanaimo 5.
The Angels record is now 31 and 5. Their next game is at South Surrey Athletic Park vs. White Rock. Game time is noon.
Go Angels!
