It was a mix of sun and rain this past long weekend as the Angels played at the Richmond Tourney. In the first two games, on a sunny, sunny day, the Angels beat the Vancouver Cardinals (a Bantam AA team) 10-0 in five innings. Chase pitched an outstanding game. The game was highlighted by two home runs, one by Sheldon and another by Jereymi. In the second game, the Angels beat the Nanaimo Pirates 14-3, also in 5 innings. Tanner hit two triples to lead the Angels bats.
The third game against the Vancouver Mounties was different in both weather and play. Through constant rainy, wet weather, the Angels struggled against the Vancouver Mounties pitching and were only able to muster up 1 run. The interesting thing was that they outhit the Mounties. In fact, the Mounties only had one hit in the game. Unfortunately, they did get many walks and on top of that, some untimely errors by the Angels allowed the Mounties to score 10 runs. Strange game indeed.
Although the Angels did finish first in their pool, the rain caused the rest of the tournament to be cancelled.
Next games for the Angels are Saturday and Sunday in two double-headers against Victoria Black and Victoria Red Eagles. |
