ALEXANDRIA — Wessington Springs/Mount Vernon/Hanson/Ethan defeated Wagner/Avon 13-0 in four and one-half innings Sunday in Alexandria in a high school baseball game.
Three Outlaw pitchers combined to give up one hit, and Pierce Smith picked up the win.
Smith, who started, pitched the first two innings. He stuck out three batters and didn’t allow a hit.
Nate Zens allowed one hit, one walk and he stuck out five. Andrew Gross pitched the final inning, striking out one batter.
For Wagner/Avon, Alex Kocer was tagged with the loss. He pitched three innings, allowed eight earned runs and two walks. He struck out three. Brett Kuca had the lone hit.
Offensively for the Outlaws, Cole Wenande and Trevor Doyle each went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Austin Letcher was 3-for-3 with an RBI and Smith, Cody London and Gross each had one hit.
