Pierce Smith pitched five innings and struck out seven to lead the Outlaws baseball team to a 5-3 win over Platte-Geddes/Dakota Christian on Monday evening.
Smith allowed one earned run on five hits and also drove in a run at the plate for the Outlaws, which also got a solo home run and two RBIs from Kaleb Kopfmann. PGDC Calby Plooster went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and Tommy Holleman added a pair of hits, including a double.
The Outlaws also had a pair of games this weekend. Trevor Doyle and Pierce Smith hit back-to-back homers to help the Outlaws come back from a 3-0 deficit in the seventh inning of Saturday’s 5-3 win over Dakota Valley. Zach London struck out seven batters in six innings.
Nate Zens had two doubles and a pair of RBIs and Kopfmann struck out five in two innings of work in a 6-4 loss to Bon Homme/Scotland/Menno on Sunday in Tabor. Bon Homme/Scotland/Menno’s Wes Kloucek had a double and drove in two runs while Brian Bartlett was the winner on the mound after allowing one hit in three innings.

The Outlaws, who are now 12-4 on the season, play Andes Central/Marty at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Alexandria. The JV game will be played first.
The Outlaws junior varsity team also went 2-1 over the weekend. Defeating Dakota Valley 14-8 and BHSM 8-4, with a loss at the hands of PGDC, 4-0. The Outlaws junior varsity record now stands at 9-2. |
