BERESFORD — The Outlaws baseball team split a pair of games Sunday against Beresford.
The Outlaws lost the first game, 8-4, but came back to win the second game by the 10-run rule 16-4 in five innings.
Beresford was outhit in the first game, 10-5. But the Outlaws' seven fielding errors, five wild pitches and five walks led to the loss.
The Outlaws Kaleb Kopfmann threw 5.1 innings, allowing five hits, eight runs — three earned — four walks and four strikeouts.
Pierce Smith went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, Nate Zens went 1-for-3 with a two run homerun and Austin Letcher went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
In the second game, the Outlaws had 21 hits and zero errors.
Cole Wenande, Cody London and Kopfmann each had three hits and Smith and Letcher each had two.
Zens, however, went 4-for-4 with two doubles and seven RBIs, which put him 5-for-8 with a homerun, two doubles and 9 RBIs on the day.
Smith started for the Outlaws and threw three innings. He allowed six hits, three earned runs and two walks. He struck out five.

The Outlaws junior varsity team defeated Beresford 5-4, running their record to 6-1. Cam Deinert picked up the win in relief, pitching the last two innings of scoreless relief. Deinert gave up 1 hit, no runs, no walks with 5 strike outs. At the plate, the Outlaws JV team were led by the following players: * Brian Vermeulen = 2 for 3 * Jordan Craig = 1 for 3 with an RBI * Jevon Grace = 1 for 3 with an RBI * Nick Steilen = 2 for 3
The Outlaws varsity team is now 9-3 and plays at 3:00 pm (JV game first) Sunday in Tabor against Bon Homme/Scotland/Menno. |
