Posted May 17/11 - Outlaws lose two

The Mount Vernon/Woonsocket/ Sanborn Central baseball team dropped a pair of games Sunday at Drake Field.

Beresford/Centerville beat the Outlaws 12-10 in the first game. MV/W/SC fell behind 5-0 in the first inning and four of the runs were unearned.

Justin Davis took the loss as he went five innings, gave up five earned runs, walked four and struck out four. A the plate, Nate Zens went 4-for-5 with an RBI, Cam Deinert went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, Cody London was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and Brian Vermeulen was 2-4 with a double and an RBI.

In the second game, Bon Homme beat the Outlaws 13-2.

Bon Homme’s Doug Vanecek picked up the win after pitching two innings of no-hit ball. Nathan Kloucek hit a home run for BH/S/M and Lance Ranek, Scott Ulmer and Codi Larson all had two RBIs.

Cam Deinert was tagged with the loss as he went five innings, gave up five hits, five earned runs, five walks and struck out six. Vermeulen went 1-for-3 at the plate for the Outlaws with a triple and two RBIs.

Mount Vernon/Woonsocket/ Sanborn Central’s next game is against Parkston in a first-round playoff game. The date is yet to be determined.

Bon Homme captured the top seed in Region 1 and hosts Dakota Valley at 8 p.m. Tuesday night in Tabor.
