Team BC are champions for Caba 2012 after defeating the Wisconsin River Cats 11-3 in the final Saturday afternoon in Sylvania Ohio. The game was much tighter than the final score indicated as Team BC was down 3-1 after 3 innings and 3-2 after 4 before breaking the game wide open against a tired River Cats team by scoring 8 times in the 5th inning. Michael Yang was the winning pitcher going the distance allowing just 3 hits (all in the 3rd inning) and notching 10 K's. For his efforts Yang was chosen as the top pitcher in the tournament. Team BC opened the scoring in the bottom of 2 when Devin Patterson reached on a single and was driven in by a 2 out single by catcher Brayden Slaughter. River Cats would put up a 3 spot in the top of 4th as they briefly got to Yang but he quickly settled down and Team BC began to mount their comeback. Sam Shoemaker led off the bottom of 4 with a single and was driven in by a Patterson ground out to the right side to cut the Wisconsin lead to 3-2 after 4. Yang set the River Cats down in order in the top of 5 and the Team BC bats went to work in the bottom of 5. Slaughter was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and Elliot Morrow-Lisa drew a walk putting 2 on with no outs. Derek Krall then laid down a perfect sac bunt and Jason Willow drove in both Slaughter and Morrow-Lisa with a 2 run single. Dawson Gray the singled and Rhys Cratty and Shoemaker also singled scoring Gray. Yang then hit a long sac fly to CF scoring Cratty and then Patterson and Nick Phelan tripled back to back to keep the onslaught going. After 5 innings Team BC led 10-3. Yang held Wisconsin again in the top of 6 and then BC went to work again. Krall singled with 1 out and advanced to 3rd on 2-WP . When Jason Willow drove Krall in on a FC the game was over on the x8 run mercy rule and Team BC were champions. The team went a perfect 8-0 to win the tournament going away. Also thanks to all the great parents who supported the team throughout the tournament and made the financial contribution for their children to make this trip. And finally thanks to BC Monor Baseball for providing the opportunity for these boys to experience this great tournament. Team BC--CHMPIONS CABA 2012 !!!!!
