Posted Apr 30/12 - Dodgers Win One of Four on First Road Trip
The Langley-Aldergrove Dodgers returned home from their very first road trip of the season winning the first one, but losing three games against the Victoria Black and Red Eagles.  The weekend started off well with a 8-5, come from behind victory vs. the Victoria Black Eagles behind the pitching of Yi-Fan Pan and Bailey Roope.  In the second game, the Dodger bats, which were otherwise hot for the weekend, were stymied for the first few innings.  There were several good at bats and some sparkling defensive play as the Dodgers kept it close and came back with runs in the last inning.  However, the late inning rally proved too little too late.

On Sunday, the Dodgers took on the Red Eagles at Carnarvon Park in Victoria. The Dodgers ended up on the wrong end of 8-3 and 8-0 scores, despite multiple hits. Unfortunately, the young Dodger team made several uncharacteristic scoring and mental errors throughout the day and especially in the first game that led to runs for the Reds.  The errors turned what would otherwise have been winnable games into clear victories for the home side. Despite the losses, the trip was worthwhile from a team perspective as the boys faced the arduous process of a four-game weekend for the first time.  The coaches are confident that the trip will prove to be a good learning experience.  The trip also gave the boys an opportunity to bond and enjoy their time together which will undoubtedly create a stronger team going forward.

Next Up: The Dodgers travel to Vancouver on Sunday for a double header against the hard-charging Mounties.
